Yahoo Launches ‘Yahoo Clues’ Search Trends Tool
Yesterday, Yahoo released Yahoo Clues, a new trend and search insight tool which will provide search information on Yahoo users. The new Yahoo tool, which was developed for obvious reasons, to provide users (marketers) with popular search terms being searched, offers a few more features then the old Google tools such as gender and age demos. And of course, it’s Yahoo search data and not Google.
“With Yahoo Clues, you can discover and compare trending information for search terms of interest to you, or explore popular trending search terms on Yahoo,” the company said via their ysearchblog.com.
Some of the immediate features of this new tool are search volume charts, demographic graphs, maps and related searches specific to a demographic group. Yahoo stated they are also experimenting with the feature “Search Flow,” which offers a look at users search patterns and the next most probable search term they will search after searching for a query.
I did mess with the tool a bit and I do like the gender and age demographic information the tool shows as well as the search flow feature and the fact that it’s updated information but, some of the searches I placed I didn’t get any results at all which was kind of weak. However, I’m sure that will change as they expand this tool. It is in beta right now.
