As I’m constantly reminded by Captain Thundercock about the power of blogs I do forget sometimes. I was reminded again however when a buddy of mine asked me for help knocking down an inaccurate post in ”the Google” that was making a company he was working with look bad.ÂÂ
The inaccurate post was ranking for a certain key phrase that may have been seen by a potential client and could possibly effect their business. So, after my buddy’s failed attempt at trying to get in contact with the site owner of the inaccurate post, I informed him about rounding up some bloggers to write posts related to this key phrase (wasn’t very competitive). ÂÂ
He rounded up a few in-house bloggers and they all posted. Making their posts hella relevant and professional, I told him to then cross link the blogs via the key phrase and “BAM!” They were able to drop the inaccurate post out of the top three pages.
It only took about an hour or so and all the posts showed up in ”The Google”. They now dominate the first 2 pages of this certain key phrase with the blog posts they all wrote.
Pretty insane how fast a blog post can dominate in “the Google”.

As you all may or may not know I’ve worked at NextStudent for the last 2 1/2 years. Of that time I’ve been working in the NextStudent Web Marketing department for the last 1 1/2 years. Going in I had a marketing degree from the University of Phoenix but I knew absolutely nothing about online marketing. However, with the guidance of Chris Hooley and others I’ve learned a ton of information and I’m now heading up the SEO side of things.
Got to say I love my job and even though the industry is ruff now, thanks to the brilliant minds that run this country, I see myself working at NextStudent for a very long time.
